Toffee Bars - New Campout Recipe Section

Judy Tanner suggested we setup a section for campout recipes. Here is the first submission. You will find them under Troop 170 news.

Toffee Bars

1 pkg. saltines
1 C. butter or margarine
1 C. sugar
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
¾ C. chopped walnuts or pecans

Line a 10 x 17” cookie sheet with foil. It must have a raised edge on all sides.
Grease foil with butter wrapper.
Cover foil completely with saltines.
In saucepan, melt butter and add sugar.
Boil 4-5 min. stirring constantly.
Spread quickly onto saltines.
Bake at 400 for 4-5 min. or until they have a light caramel look.
Sprinkle choc. chips on top. Place back in oven for 3 min.
Spread chocolate out. Sprinkle nuts on top and press down.
Refrigerate overnight (or freeze if you need them quicker).
Break into small pieces.
